Carla Martins chairs the 30th General Assembly of the Compostela Group of Universities

CIPsi’s researcher Carla Martins chaired the General Assembly of the Compostela Group of Universities, which took place on June 3rd and 4th in Lima, Peru.

The event, themed “The role of universities in the era of disruption and innovation”, brought together heads of 64 universities from 21 countries and included lectures, a Research Pitches Contest and the awarding of the 28th Grupo Compostela-Xunta de Galicia International Prize to the Italian historian Paolo Caucci von Saucken, honorary president of the International Committee of Experts of the Camino de Santiago (Way of Saint James).

The event also included a moment to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Compostela Group of Universities, during which an e-book, which tells the story of its foundation and development, was launched.

The meeting allowed for closer relations between the Compostela Group of Universities and the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUALC), which brings together 240 institutions from 22 countries.

The next General Assembly of the Compostela Group of Universities is scheduled for September 2025, at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), and will address the role of higher education institutions in the social and economic development of their territories.
