Fear appeal strategies in climate change education: Food for thought from a literature review

[Excerto] Despite the widespread adoption of fear appeal strategies across several domains to discourage risky behaviors, these messages are often controversial (Tannenbaum et al., 2015), particularly in climate change education (O'Neill & Nicholson-Cole, 2009). Therefore, the current chapter intends to present the main theoretical and empirical contributions of the fear appeal literature to provide cliamte change educators with valuable insights to guide their practice.
