Sónia Maria Martins Caridade completed her Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology in 2009 at the University of Minho (UM) and a Bachelor's degree in Specialization in Forensic Psychology in 2003, also at UM. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Psychology of the University of Minho (EPsi-UM), Director of the Psychology undergraduate program, Coordinator of internships within the Master's program in Forensic Psychology, and also participates in various working groups. She also works as a forensic expert at the Psychology Association at EPsi-UM and is an integrated member of the Psychology Research Center. From November 2021 to February 2024, she served as the coordinator for academic mobility at EPsi-UM. From 2009 to September 2021, she worked as an Assistant Professor at Fernando Pessoa University (UFP), where she was also the pedagogical coordinator of the 1st cycle of studies in criminology (2019-2021), president of the Pedagogical Council of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at UFP (2020-2021), and researcher at the Permanent Observatory on Violence and Crime (2012-2021). From 2020 to 2021, she was an integrated researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies (CIEG) at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lisbon. She has published 68 articles in specialized journals, 56 book chapters, and 11 books. She has organized 15 events and participated in 74 events. She has supervised/co-supervised 8 doctoral theses (1 completed), supervised 40 master's dissertations, and co-supervised 4. She has supervised 17 undergraduate/bachelor's thesis projects and co-supervised 1. She has received 6 awards and/or honors. She has been involved as a Ph.D. fellow in 1 project, as a researcher in 5 projects, and as a principal investigator in 2 projects. She works in the field of Social Sciences with emphasis on Other Social Sciences. In her professional activities, she has collaborated with 224 colleagues in co-authoring scientific papers. Her main research line focuses on intimate partner violence (adult and juvenile), victimization, domestic violence, and juvenile delinquency. She serves as a reviewer for several international scientific journals (Violence and Victims, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, among others). She is a Guest Editor for Social Sciences, MDPI, on Violence, Victimization and Prevention; Editor of the thematic issue "Motivational Interviewing in Forensic Settings" in Frontiers in Psychology. Forensic and Legal Psychology, and Editor of the thematic issue "Violence Intervention in Workplace and Family" in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (ISSN 1660-4601) (2023).
