The Planned Behavior Questionnaire to Quit Smoking (PBQ-QS) is an instrument that measures beliefs related to smoking cessation. This paper presents the psychometric characteristics of QCP-DF. Twenty five smokers participated in the qualitative study and 224 in validation study. Interviews were done in order to elicit beliefs related to smoking cessation that were later analyzed using content analysis. By this process, a questionnaire was constructed according to the Theory of Planned. The validation of the questionnaire revealed good reliability for the subscales and good construct validity showing a correlation with tobacco representations and good discriminant validity with the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence. The QCP-DF seems to be a useful instrument to include in smoking cessation programs.
