Sandra Carvalho, faculty member of the Department of Basic Psychology at the School of Psychology of the University of Minho and integrated researcher at the Centre for Research in Psychology (CIPsi), has been recognized for her editorial work by Springer Nature and the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience.
Sandra Carvalho received the Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Award 2026 – Editorial Contribution Award, granted within the scope of the journal BMC Psychiatry, where she serves as Associate Editor. This distinction recognizes editors who rank among the top 20% in the evaluation and management of manuscripts submitted for peer review, highlighting scientific rigor, editorial quality, and commitment to the integrity of the scientific publishing process in the field of Psychiatry.
In parallel, she was also distinguished by Frontiers in Human Neuroscience as “2025 Outstanding Associate Editor” in the Brain Imaging and Stimulation section, in recognition of her performance as Associate Editor and her contribution to the quality and scientific rigor of the journal in the areas of brain imaging, non-invasive brain stimulation, and translational neuroscience. According to the Frontiers editorial team, this distinction highlights the “commitment, leadership, and dedication” demonstrated throughout the last editorial year, as well as her strong involvement in the handling and review of scientific manuscripts.
These international distinctions reflect not only the recognition of her individual scientific and editorial career, but also the growing international visibility of the research developed at the School of Psychology of the University of Minho in the fields of neuroscience, mental health, and translational innovation.
