Perceções atuais e do futuro dos adolescentes: a influência do nível socioeconómico

A adolescência constitui-se como um dos períodos particularmente vulneráveis à influência do Nível Socioeconómico (NSE), sendo notórios os efeitos nefastos relacionados com níveis socioeconómicos baixos. Com este estudo pretende-se perceber se a Satisfação com a Vida, a Autoeficácia, as Aspirações e a Perspetiva temporal dos adolescentes se diferenciam de acordo com o seu NSE. Os participantes deste estudo foram 400 alunos de duas escolas, com idades compreendidas entre os 15 e os 19 anos (M = 16.68; DP = 1.01) sendo a maioria do sexo feminino (n = 226, 56.5%). Os resultados mostraram que a Satisfação com a Vida e a Autoeficácia dos alunos de NSE baixo são significativamente inferiores às apresentadas por alunos de NSE médio e alto. Verificou-se, também que a Satisfação com a Vida pode ser explicada pelas variáveis NSE, Autoeficácia, Orientação para o Futuro e Importância Atribuída às Aspirações Intrínsecas. Estes dados reforçam a importância de intervenções que tenham em vista a Satisfação com Vida dos adolescentes, tais como com o estabelecimento de crenças de sucesso e eficácia por partes destes, bem como encorajamento e o estabelecimento de planos para o futuro e ainda a valorização de Aspirações Intrínsecas.
Adolescence is one of the particularly vulnerable periods to the influence of the Socioeconomic Level (SES), and the harmful effects related to low socioeconomic levels. This study intends to understand if the Satisfaction with Life, Self-efficacy, Aspirations and the Temporal Perspective of adolescents differ according to their SES. The participants of this study were 400 studentsof two schools, aged between 15 and 19 (M = 16.68; SD = 1.01), the majority females (n = 226, 56.5%). The results showed that Satisfaction with Life and Self-efficacy of low SES students are significantly lower than those presented by high and medium SES students. It was also verified that the Satisfaction with Life can be explained by the variables SES, Self-efficacy, Guidance for the Future and Importance Attributed to Intrinsic Aspirations. These data reinforce the importance of interventions that aim at Satisfaction with Life with adolescents, such as establishing beliefs of success and effectiveness, as well as encouragement and the establishment of plans for the future and also the valuation of Aspirations Intrinsic.
