Resolução da ambivalência num caso de insucesso com Perturbação de Ansiedade: um estudo de caso exploratório

As Perturbações de Ansiedade são das psicopatologias mais prevalentes, tendo impacto nos diversos
contextos diários da pessoa. Sabe-se que apesar da eficácia das abordagens terapêuticas, uma
quantidade substancial de clientes com esta patologia não apresenta um nível de resposta significativo
ao tratamento, o que pode relacionar-se com a ambivalência em relação à mudança. Estudos anteriores
focados na resolução da ambivalência sugeriram que analisar os temas específicos da ambivalência pode
ser útil na compreensão da sua resolução. No entanto, não existem estudos que analisem a resolução
da ambivalência nas perturbações de ansiedade. Assim, os objetivos do presente estudo exploratório
centram-se na caracterização da evolução da ambivalência e dos seus processos de resolução, na análise
da evolução destes processos nas diferentes temáticas da ambivalência num caso clínico. Para analisar
a resolução da ambivalência, foram codificadas um total de 20 sessões de um caso de insucesso tratado
com o Unified Protocol, sendo realizada uma análise de conteúdo a partir destes momentos identificados.
Os resultados sugerem diferentes tendências de resolução nos diferentes temas de ambivalência,
ilustrando que o processo de resolução poderá ter diferentes ritmos e configurações para cada tema, o
que poderá auxiliar a compreensão do insucesso terapêutico.
Anxiety Disorders are one of the most prevalent psychopathologies, impacting the different daily contexts
of the person. It is known that despite the effectiveness of therapeutic approaches, a substantial number
of clients with this pathology do not show a significant level of response to treatment, which may be
related to ambivalence towards change. Previous studies focused on ambivalence resolution have
suggested that analyzing the specific themes of ambivalence can clarify its resolution. However, there are
no studies that analyze the resolution of ambivalence in anxiety disorders. Thus, the objectives of this
exploratory study are centered on the characterization of the evolution of ambivalence and its resolution
processes, in the analysis of the evolution of these processes in the different themes of ambivalence in a
clinical case. To analyze the ambivalence resolution, a total of 20 sessions of a case of failure treated
with the Unified Protocol were coded, and a content analysis was performed from these identified
moments. The results suggest different resolution trends in the different themes of ambivalence,
illustrating that the resolution process may have different rhythms and configurations for each theme,
which may help the understanding of therapeutic failure.
