Olivia Morgan Lapenta is a researcher at the Psychological Neuroscience Lab within the Psychology Research Centre at Universidade do Minho. She combines physiological and behavioural assessments to investigate various perceptual, motor, and cognitive processes. Olivia has explored numerous topics, including action observation and imagery, multisensory integration and cross-modal interactions, food craving, social pain, attention and mind-wandering processes, and sensorimotor entrainment.
Currently, her research focuses on three main areas: 1. The effects of meditation on well-being and relaxation, alongside the associated electroencephalographic and heart rate patterns. 2.The multisensory perception of food, examining how food cues shape taste expectations and the desire to eat, as well as interventions for populations with eating disorders or altered taste perception. 3. Integrative approaches to multisensory integration, emotion perception, and motor performance through neuromodulation.
Olivia has expertise in tDCS and EEG and the combination of the two techniques and also has experience with eye-tracking, TMS and EMG techniques applied to cognitive neuroscience investigations.
